Mobilizing science and technology to Canada's Advantage

Moving Canada's science and technology innovations from research laboratories to hospitals, schools, board rooms and industry floors across the country and around the world, is a national priority.

Canada's federal Science and Technology Strategy (2007) aims to build a sustainable national competitive Advantage utilizing the skills of Canadian workers whose creativity, ambitions and talents will bring Canadian innovations to the global stage.

To achieve its goal, three Science and Technology Advantages have been developed.

The Entrepreneurial Advantage

Ensure that knowledge is translated into practical applications to improve the wealth, wellness and well-being of Canadians.

Canada's federal government is fostering an environment to encourage science and technology investments, research and commercialization partnerships between the public and private sectors, and increase the impact of federal business R&D assistance programs.

The Knowledge Advantage

Build on Canadian research and engineering strengths, generate new ideas and innovations, and achieve excellence by international standards.

Strategic investment is focused on environmental science and technologies, natural resources and energy, health and related life sciences, and information and communications technologies.

The People Advantage

Develop, attract and retain highly skilled people necessary to Canada's success in the modern global economy.
