Dr John Thornback is currently the Chief Operating Officer and an Executive Board Director of Myconostica Ltd., a Manchester UK and Charleston USA based molecular diagnostics company developing diagnostics for invasive fungal disease.

In addition to working with Myconostica, John is Chairman of Sestria Ltd., a Healthcare consultancy, a Non-Executive Director of Abcellute Ltd and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Molecular Insight Inc, a NASDAQ listed company. 

John has a BSc and PhD from Imperial College, London where he worked with Professor Sir Geoffrey Wilkinson, Nobel Laureate, He has held academic positions at a number of Universities, including Lecturer in Chemistry at Chelsea College, University of London (1981-1983) and Loughborough University (1983-1988), Visiting Professor, Faculty of Medicine Imperial College, London (2004), Visiting Fellow, Harvard University (1987-88) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1986) and Adjunct Professor, Dept of Chemistry, McMaster University, (1997-2000).
