Damian Lamb

As co-founder and managing director of Genesys Capital, Mr. Lamb’s unique experience blends skills in both the commercial and technical sides of biotechnology.

Since co-founding Genesys Capital Partners in 2000, he has been instrumental in raising over $200 million in venture capital funds, and has been involved in deploying over $90 million in 18 investments. He currently serves on the board of Affinium Pharmaceuticals Inc., and served on the boards of Ionalytics Corporation (recently sold to Thermo Electron Corp.), Millenium Biologix and was chairman of the board of DELEX Therapeutics Inc. when it was sold to YM BioSciences. Mr. Lamb works closely with companies receiving investment through Genesys, helping to strategically position the companies to build value for shareholders.

In 2001, Mr. Lamb played a key role in creating two seed capital funds associated with Canada's leading research institutes. The Discovery District Biotechnology Fund was set up in partnership with leading Toronto-based research institutes, while the Ottawa Biotechnology Innovation Fund was set up in partnership with leading Ottawa-based research institutes. Mr. Lamb is the president of the Ottawa Biotechnology Innovation Fund and a director of the Discovery District Biotechnology Fund. These seed funds represent the foundation of Regional Technology Access Partnerships program.

Prior to Genesys Capital, Mr. Lamb was an investment manager with MDS Capital Corp. He is a frequently invited speaker at biotechnology industry conferences and was a judge for the BioNorth Top 10 Canadian Life Sciences Companies contest from 2000–2006.

A graduate from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, with an MSc in molecular neurobiology, Mr. Lamb also holds an MBA from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.
